The Tennessee Vols are reportedly on the verge of landing a former four-star recruit to fill a big transfer need.

On3’s Pete Nakos predicted on Monday morning that Tennessee will secure a commitment from LSU Tigers transfer offensive linemen Ory Williams, a former four-star recruit from San Marcos, TX.

“Tennessee is poised to land a commitment from the LSU offensive lineman, sources tell On3,” wrote Nakos. “He is the No. 18 player in the portal at his position.”

Williams, 6-8, 335 pounds, signed with LSU during the 2024 recruiting cycle. He appeared in one game as a true freshman in 2024, before seeing extended action in 2025. Williams played in 12 games (with two starts) for LSU as a redshirt freshman in 2025. The Texas native received 150 snaps this past season.

How will Ory Williams fit with the Tennessee Vols?

Tennessee badly needs some offensive line depth after losing Lance Heard, William Satterwhite, Max Anderson, and Bennett Warren to the transfer portal.

The loss of Heard, the Vols’ starting left tackle last season, is particularly impactful.

For now, the expectation is that former five-star recruit David Sanders Jr, who started at right tackle in 2025, will play left tackle for Tennessee in 2026. It’s unclear who will play right tackle. Williams could be an option if he transfers to Tennessee as expected. Jesse Perry, who plays guard and played some right tackle in 2025, is another option.

Regardless of how it shakes out, landing Williams would be a big get for a Tennessee program that’s searching for offensive line depth.
