The Ole Miss Rebels have been on a mission since losing in the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff. Pete Golding and his staff now have the Rebels’ ranked top five in the team transfer portal rankings. They’re bringing in high quality starter-level talent with almost every single acquisition, and they’ve done it again.

Initially, it was the defense that Golding wanted to get right, considering where the Rebels struggled this past season. Then Ole Miss secured their most important transfer of the cycle in former five star quarterback Deuce Knight, who played his high school ball in Mississippi. Now, the focus has turned to building the fortress around him as the Rebels have brought in Carius Curne at offensive tackle, and as of Tuesday, Troy Everett from the Oklahoma Sooners to help the interior offensive line.

Ole Miss Rebels put finishing touches on offensive line with Troy Everett from Oklahoma Sooners

Ole Miss has already done an excellent job of retaining several key talents along the offensive line like Brycen Sanders (who announced his return) and Delano Townsend (who hopped in the portal, but quickly came back). However, after losing Devin Harper and a couple other depth pieces to the transfer portal, Pete Golding and his staff needed to revamp the offensive line a bit. As of Tuesday, Troy Everett has signed with Ole Miss and will be one of the more pivotal veterans along the offensive front for the Rebels in 2026.

It’s unclear which role he will take exactly because Sanders is still coming back at center, where Everett has played the majority of his career for the Oklahoma Sooners. Still, having two veterans who can run things up front at center is a luxury Ole Miss fans should be happy to see. Both Everett and Sanders can shuffle between the three interior offensive line positions while the team figures out their best offensive tackle rotation here soon.

Building a strong offensive line in front of Deuce Knight should prove critical if Ole Miss wants to make another immediate run back to the College Football Playoff. Knight has already demonstrated he can make plays with his legs and through the air against the likes of sad little Mercer (239 yards passing and two scores through the air, 162 yards rushing and four scores). Now, he’ll have to prove he can dominate against the best of the best in the SEC. He’ll need some time to develop chemistry with new receivers, running a completely different offense. Having offensive line talents like Everett (1,500 college snaps) and Brycen Sanders (1,100 college snaps) help guide the young quarterback could be the most important variable that leads to offensive success for Ole Miss this year. Fans might not know the name Troy Everett right now, but they’ll surely be thankful for this addition by this fall.
