The Tennessee Vols are in serious danger of missing out on an elite 2027 in-state five-star recruit.
2027 five-star wide receiver Kesean Bowman is one of the most coveted recruits in the nation.
Bowman, 6-foot-1/175 pounds from Brentwood, TN, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 6 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 2 player in the state of Tennessee. He’s also rated as the No. 32 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.
Miami and Vanderbilt viewed as the leaders for Kesean Bowman
There was some optimism a couple of months ago that Bowman was trending toward Tennessee.
That was in part because of some comments made in September by former Vols linebacker Kevin Simon, who has a son (2027 four-star linebacker Kenneth Simon) that is high school teammates with Bowman.
“I think some good things are going to happen in Tennessee,” said Simon on 99.1 The Sports Animal . “I know Kesean Bowman, who’s committed to Oregon, you know, he’s starting to feel a little different. He’s starting to feel the love from Tennessee. So, we’ll see…..He’s got orange in his sights.”
Bowman decommitted from Oregon shortly after Simon’s comments, but it’s Miami and Vanderbilt that appear poised to land the talented wide receiver.
“The former Oregon commit has been torn down the stretch, and Miami has given the Tennessee playmaker plenty to think about,” wrote On3’s Chad Simmons over the weekend. “(Miami wide receivers coach) Kevin Beard and the Hurricanes are pushing hard, and the NIL component will be a factor. How the Hurricanes are playing has had an impact too. Vanderbilt is doing everything it can to keep him home — the staff will be in next week, and Miami is expected as well. Vanderbilt still has momentum, but this one is tight.”
Bowman is planning to announce his commitment on Feb. 12.
Tennessee probably won’t be the pick on Feb. 12, but the Vols will likely keep swinging at the five-star recruit even after he commits.
