Kansas City Chiefs GM Brett Veach may lose his right-hand man for the second consecutive offseason
First he lost Mike Borgonzi to the Tennessee Titans, and now he could lose Mike Bradway to the Atlanta Falcons.
The Kansas City Chiefs have been mostly lucky when it comes to their coaching staff talent not being poached by other teams during their run of success, but Brett Veach’s front office hasn’t been so lucky.
In 2022, the Chiefs lost Executive Director of Player Personnel Ryan Poles to the Chicago Bears as their general manager. Last offseason, Kansas City lost assistant GM Mike Borgonzi to the Tennessee Titans as their general manager. Now, a top remaining lieutenant on Brett Veach’s staff appears to be next in line for a promotion to general manager with another club in the NFC.
Falcons submit interview request for Chiefs assistant GM Mike Bradway
As first reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Atlanta Falcons have requested an interview with Chiefs assistant GM Mike Bradway for their general manager vacancy. This comes after Atlanta fired GM Terry Fontenot and HC Raheem Morris when the team failed to reach the playoffs for the 2025 NFL season.
Bradway first joined the Chiefs in 2018 as the team’s Assistant Director of Player Personnel. He spent three seasons in that role before he was promoted to Senior Director of Player Personnel. After four seasons in that role, Bradway was promoted to his current position, assistant GM, replacing the aforementioned Mike Borgonzi, who left for Tennessee.
Bradway isn’t just a Brett Veach guy; he’s also an Andy Reid guy. Prior to his time in Kansas City, Bradway spent 10 seasons from 2008 through 2017 with the Philadelphia Eagles, with roles ranging from area and regional scout to Assistant Director of College Scouting.
The Falcons have already put in interview requests and spoken with a slew of candidates, including Bears assistant GM Ian Cunningham, Houston Texans assistant GM James Liipfert, San Francisco 49ers Director of Scouting and Football Operations Josh Williams, and Pittsburgh Steelers assistant GM Andy Weidl. They’re conducting an exhaustive search, and Bradway is just the latest name added to the pile of requests.
Where does Bradway trump all the other candidates? Super Bowl rings. He has contributed to three Super Bowl-winning rosters (LIV, LVII, LVIII) and two more that got the team to the big dance (LV and LIX). That has to have a lot of appeal for a team looking to build a winning culture and get back to winning playoff games after not even making the playoffs since 2017.
