Packers are quietly prepared with several offensive coordinator candidates as Adam Stenavich draws Titans’ interest
Stenavich spent the past four seasons as the Packers’ offensive coordinator under Matt LaFleur.
After losing defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley to the Miami Dolphins as a head coach, the Green Bay Packers might also see offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich go elsewhere. The run game specialist can go to the Tennessee Titans as a play-calling offensive coordinator after spending seven seasons in Green Bay, the past four as a non-playcalling OC. Steno will interview for the Titans’ job on Monday.
Now, Matt LaFleur will have to find his third offensive coordinator for the Packers — the first change happened in 2022, when the Packers promoted Stenavich after losing Nathaniel Hackett to the Denver Broncos.
Steno was hired to LaFleur’s inaugural coaching staff in 2019 as an offensive line coach. In 2021, he was promoted to offensive line coach and run game coordinator, and he got the offensive coordinator job a year later.
If Stenavich, in fact, goes to the Titans, the Packers have plenty of options to replace him — both internal and external candidates.
Packers passing game coordinator Jason Vrable
Vrable would be the most natural choice. He’s also been in Green Bay since 2019, being promoted from offensive assistant to wide receivers coach to passing game coordinator. A 41-year-old coach, he has LaFleur’s trust.
Packers defensive analyst Nathaniel Hackett
Hackett spent less than a year as the Broncos’ head coach and two years with Aaron Rodgers on the New York Jets. In 2025, he returned to the Packers in a smaller analyst role on defense, but since he’s on the staff, it would make sense to at least interview him for a job he was very effective at previously.
Packers senior offensive assistant Luke Getsy
When Hackett left in 2022, Getsy was one of the primary candidates, but he took the Chicago Bears’ play-calling OC job instead. He also called plays for the Las Vegas Raiders, but returned to Green Bay as well — first as a defensive consultant late in 2024, then back on offense in 2025.
Broncos offensive pass game coordinator/quarterbacks coach Davis Webb
Webb is a rising coach from Sean Payton’s tree, so that would be an intriguing external option. The big question is whether he would want a non-playcalling position. Webb has had several head-coaching interviews and can still land one of those jobs.
Lions run game coordinator/offensive line coach Hank Fraley
This would be an efficient way to get better while making your rival worse. Fraley is a big part of what the Lions have built upfront, but he was passed over for John Morton and, now, for Drew Petzing for the Lions’ OC job. That would be a way to keep an OC under LaFleur, taking care of the run game.
Rams pass game coordinator Nathan Scheelhaase
Another rising coach, Scheelhaase, is 35 and is just in his second NFL season. Initially hired by Sean McVay as an offensive assistant and passing game specialist, he was quickly promoted to pass game coordinator in 2025. The Rams run a similar offensive system. The problem is that Scheelhaase is getting some HC looks.
Dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith
Smith worked for four seasons running a similar scheme under Mike McDaniel as the Dolphins’ non-playcalling OC. He has an NFL background working with tight ends and offensive linemen, and would also be an addition to the run gameplanning part.
Former Titans head coach Brian Callahan
Callahan worked under Zac Taylor in a familiar scheme on the Cincinnati Bengals. While his stint as the Titans’ head coach wasn’t successful, he’s proven to be a solid, helpful non-play-calling OC.
Former Giants interim head coach Mike Kafka
Kafka would bring different elements to the offense coming from Andy Reid’s coaching tree. After Brian Daboll was fired, the offensive coordinator took over as an interim HC and led a top-10 offense in EPA/play for the rest of the season.
Patriots passing game coordinator and tight ends coach Thomas Brown
Brown comes from the Rams’ tree under Sean McVay. In 2024, he was temporarily promoted twice in a month, from passing game coordinator to offensive coordinator to interim head coach after Matt Eberflus got fired. Even though his HC experience wasn’t that great, he improved the offense as an OC. He’s also been a valuable resource for Josh McDaniels in New England in developing Drake Maye.
