Bills veteran trashes the organization before deleting his social media, putting into question whether he’ll be back in Buffalo in 2026
I don’t think DaQuan Jones is going to be a member of the Buffalo Bills in 2026.
I don’t think defensive tackle DaQuan Jones is coming back to Buffalo next season. After signing a two-year, $16 million contract, Buffalo might be in the market for a new defensive tackle.
After the New England Patriots defeated the Denver Broncos to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl (gross), Jones went viral for his comments about head coach Mike Vrabel, and later addressed the Bills Mafia, voicing their displeasure with his choice of words.
Jones quickly deleted his X account and went radio silent. Not a good look for the veteran. An attack on Bills Mafia, the lifeblood of the organization, is an attack on the organization itself. Jones’s comments will sting for quite some time, even if he deleted them all afterward. A frustrating update on an already busy offseason.
DaQuan Jones most likely won’t be playing for the Buffalo Bills in 2026
“VRABLE IS THAT MF!” Jones wrote immediately after the Patriots’ win.
A user quickly pushed back, “Bro, make one (expletive) stop, and that could’ve been you. This is trash.”
Jones didn’t take too kindly to that, offering, “Go cry.”
It wasn’t just that; when the topic of him still being with the Buffalo Bills came up, Jones quickly dismissed it with his response. Again, I’m fairly certain the team will be looking for a new defensive tackle after all of this. Honestly, he can go somewhere else.
“Daquan, you play for the Bills,” a user wrote.
To which Jones simply responded, “free agent.”
The Bills are on the hook for $3.7 million due to some void years in Jones’ contract, but he’s an unrestricted free agent heading into the 2026 season. Since he’s a vested veteran with at least four accrued seasons under his belt, he’s able to sign with any team. My money is on the Patriots.
Buffalo has a few answers if Jones decides to leave Buffalo, and they’re pretty darn good
Jones has since deleted his X account after the post went viral. If you can’t take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Jones was ultimately just a body for Buffalo, in a unit that was ravaged by injuries. The 12-year veteran appeared in 12 games for Buffalo, getting an interception, two passes defensed, one forced fumble, three sacks, and 22 tackles. Based on PFF’s rankings, he was the 29th overall defensive tackle in the NFL, but Buffalo already has a good replacement option for him in Deone Walker.
Walker was a stud this season, really coming into his own during his rookie season. Walker earned a spot on the PFWA’s NFL All-Rookie team. The fourth-round rookie finished his season starting in 16 games with four passes defensed, one fumble recovery, one sack, with 39 combined tackles, eight tackles for loss, and four quarterback hits.
It’s not just Walker that the team has on standby, but fellow defensive tackle Ed Oliver. Oliver’s 2025 campaign was devastated by injury, but he still found himself ranking fifth overall in terms of defensive tackles by PFF. He’s that good.
If Jones wants to move on to what he believes are greener pastures, Buffalo has a few answers for him already on the roster, and with the draft ahead, they could stock up there as well.
This feels like a bridge already burned. Whether Jones intended to air frustrations or simply got caught up in the moment, the fallout is real, and Buffalo isn’t exactly short on options.
Between Walker’s emergence, Oliver’s proven ceiling, and a draft loaded with defensive talent, the Bills are positioned to move forward without much hesitation if Jones decides to walk. If Jones truly sees himself elsewhere in 2026, Buffalo may already be one step ahead and perfectly fine closing this chapter.
