The Oklahoma Sooners completely rebuilt their 2026 recruiting class from scratch once general manager Jim Nagy and company came into town over the spring.

What was once a one-man class with just wide receiver Daniel Odom grew into a top-15 class with 24 players, including three recruits among the top-ten of their respective positions in Jake Kreul, Jonathan Hatton Jr., and Bowe Bentley.

Evidently, the Sooners weren’t stopping there, closing out the 2026 class with an intriguing add at the buzzer beater on National Signing Day.

One more high-upside add to the Sooners 2026 class

Despite their strong efforts to rebuild their recruiting class, the Sooners only added one cornerback to the entire team in California four-star Derrick Johnson II. Oklahoma still has plenty of talent in the room in both returning players and from a couple of additions out of the transfer portal, but adding young talent to such a critical position is never a bad thing.

Their latest addition in LeBron Bauer could be the missing ingredient to really tie together their 2026 class. The three-star cornerback from a Texas powerhouse in Allen offers some pretty intriguing versatility as a defensive back and special teamer.

This season alone, Bauer racked up 50 tackles, eight PBUs, six blocked punts, four blocked field goals, two forced fumbles, and two defensive touchdowns. He also recorded 400 returns yards and three onside kick recoveries, earning Utility Player of the Year honors for District 6-6A in Dallas.

The Sooners already have their starting cornerback trio established with Eli Bowen, Courtland Guillory, and Jacobe Johnson, with the remainder of snaps likely being competed over by transfers Dakoda Fields and Prince Ijioma alongside youngsters like Jeremiah Newcombe and Trystan Haynes.

However, snaps will come open in the future, and I find myself intrigued by Bauer’s film. Despite his low recruiting status, I’m intrigued by his instincts and overall technique, though he’ll obviously need further refinement once he leaps into the collegiate level.
