The Seattle Seahawks capped off one of the wildest years in recent NFL memory with an emphatic win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX. It wasn’t quite as dominant as the win over the Denver Broncos 12 years ago, but outside of a couple of late touchdowns, the Patriots’ offense showed no life for three and a half quarters.

It was the opposite for the Seahawks offense, which rode the coattails of Klint Kubiak’s wide zone scheme en route to a Super Bowl MVP performance from Kenneth Walker III. The only problem? Super Bowl Sunday will be the last time we ever see that offense.

Klint Kubiak confirms he will take the Raiders HC Job

For those plugged into the coaching carousel, this news shouldn’t come as a surprise. Usually, nothing is ever done in football until the clock hits zero or the pen touches the paper. Kubiak didn’t wait for either on Sunday night, letting the world know what his next steps were.

“While Klint Kubiak is celebrating this special Super Bowl win with the Seahawks, he just confirmed to me on camera that he will be the next head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.” – Stacy Dales, NFL Network (via X-Twitter).

The Seahawks will have plenty of holes to fill on their roster this offseason. With so many pivotal players on rookie deals, John Schneider and Mike Macdonald won’t have a ton of time to rest before getting into roster retooling. No decision they make will be more impactful than who replaces Kubiak as OC, however.

Who could replace Klint Kubiak as OC in Seattle?

“Some people I’ve talked to here in San Francisco think Seattle coach Mike Macdonald will want to keep a similar, Kubiak-style system in place. One back-pocket item to store away: Seattle was very impressed with Mike Kafka during head coach interviews two years ago. He’s now a senior assistant in Detroit and could be a name to watch.” Jeremy Fowler, ESPN

There is no need to reinvent the wheel in the Pacific Northwest. Sam Darnold had the best season of his career, JSN won the Offensive Player of the Year award, and the team’s lead back, Walker just won the Super Bowl MVP.

Finding the closest thing to Kubiak makes the most sense, though that will be easier said than done.
