Bills could look to a familiar face to help fix one of the biggest issues moving forward, but it could divide the fan base
This would be fun for Josh Allen and the offense.
The Buffalo Bills have plenty of question marks heading into the 2026 season. What will the defense look like with Jim Leonhard taking the reins? How will new head coach Joe Brady work with new offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr? But perhaps the biggest question is whether or not the team is going to bring in some help for quarterback Josh Allen.
While the defense has its issues, that’s for certain, it was clear watching the games throughout the season that Buffalo was lacking some true talent at wide receiver. They brought in veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks late in the season, who wound up making a big difference, but that just goes to show how battered and underperforming the unit was as a whole.
With Brady being the new head coach, he’s shaken things up with his coaching staff. Brady has brought in a new offensive and defensive coordinator, along with several other key positions. However, one new personnel change in specific has us thinking of a potential reunion that could help out Allen and the offense.
Brady and the Bills hired Drew Terrell as the new wide receivers coach, who was most recently with the Arizona Cardinals, and that’s where the reunion comes into play. With Terrell’s experience with the Cardinals, the Bills should be looking to bring in wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.
Bills Mafia might be divided over a hypothetical trade for Marvin Harrison Jr.
It’s easy to quickly dismiss the young wide receiver with the clear issues he’s had over the course of his young career, but it’s important to note how bad the Cardinals have been.
In two seasons, Harrison Jr. has played in 29 games with 103 receptions for 1,493 yards and 12 touchdowns. Sign me up for that all day. While he had a down year in 2025, the reasoning goes well beyond just his own play.
Yes, he’s not perfect, and there are some issues, but he would be a marked improvement in the wide receiver room, and I think general manager Brandon Beane should pick up the phone and make a call when the new league year begins in March.
On more than one occasion, Harrison Jr. would find himself wide open, and quarterback Kyler Murray would just flat out miss him in open space. While Harrison Jr. has struggled, his struggles aren’t limited to his performance on the field, but also those around him. Pairing Harrison Jr. with the best quarterback in the league, in Allen, could go a long way toward revitalizing his career and showing the world why everyone was so excited to see him when he came out of the draft.
The young pass catcher brings physicality after the catch, plays through contact, beats tight coverage, and has high-level route running abilities, all of which would be a dream for the Buffalo Bills, considering the type of player they trotted out onto the field in 2025.
Tossing over a second-round pick and perhaps Keon Coleman or another piece could be enough to get the job done, but it would be up to Arizona to go ahead and approve the trade. One that they might not be willing to accept, given how exceptional they know Harrison Jr. can be.
The Bills don’t need perfection at wide receiver; they need impact. If Beane is serious about maximizing Allen’s prime, he can’t shy away from exploring bold options, even uncomfortable ones.
A Marvin Harrison Jr. trade might be complicated and far from guaranteed, but it’s exactly the type of swing Buffalo should at least be considering. Sometimes the difference between “close” and “over the hump” is a phone call you’re willing to make.
