Longtime Georgia football commit explains why he decommitted from the Bulldogs
The Georgia Bulldogs lost a 2027 football commit earlier this month.
Earlier this month, the Georgia Bulldogs lost a commitment from a 2027 recruit that had been committed since last June.
Three-star wide receiver Gavin Honore decommitted from the Bulldogs on February 12.
Honore, 5-foot-10/170 pounds from Las Vegas, NV, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 58 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 4 player in the state of Nevada.
Gavin Honore explains why he decommitted from the Georgia Bulldogs
Honore spoke to 247Sports about his recruitment this week and he explained why he decommitted from the Bulldogs.
The three-star wide receiver simply felt he committed “too early”.
“Honestly, I feel like I committed a little too early,” said Honore to 247Sports. “At the time, it was fresh off of Georgia offering me. They were really big on me. The whole coaching staff was there. This past season, toward the end of the season, they made a couple of changes within the staff. Then, just evaluating all of the options on the table, I just wanted to take my time with the next decision that I make. I just wanted to make sure it’s the right one.”
Honore, who will likely be a slot receiver at the next level, is receiving interest from Michigan, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Arizona State, among others.
Michigan and Vanderbilt, specifically, seem to be current favorites for Honore.
It’s possible that Honore wants to find a school where early playing time is more likely.
Georgia, meanwhile, should have no issues finding a wide receiver to fill his spot in their 2027 recruiting class.
The Bulldogs, by the way, have five players committed to their 2027 recruiting class so far, including five-star running back Kemon Spell, the No. 6 overall recruit in the nation.
