Former Tennessee Vols WR Chris Brazzell II just put some serious money in his pocket on Saturday
The VFL delivered a big showing at the NFL Combine’s most popular event.
The Tennessee Vols have a couple of prospects who’ve gotten a lot of first round NFL Draft love in recent weeks in cornerbacks Jermod McCoy and Colton Hood. There could be a third one with a legit chance to hear his name called on the draft’s first night in April.
Tennessee wide receiver Chris Brazzell II came into the NFL Combine with a certain amount of intrigue. At 6-5, 200 pounds, he’s got the frame and length that could be an asset at the NFL level. His route running has also caught the attention of draft pundit Todd McShay, who lauded his performance against Georgia last season.
Now, Brazzell very likely just moved himself up draft boards on Saturday at the NFL Combine’s premiere event. Brazzell ran the 40-yard dash, and he blazed the floor with a 4.37-second time.

Brazzell’s 4.37 second time was tied for the ninth fastest out time of 34 wide receivers who ran in the event. His 10-second split on the run also came in tied for fifth fastest at 1.52 seconds.
Brazzell has been considered by many pundits to be a day two pick in the draft, which is when Rounds 2 and 3 take place. However, adding that level of speed to his physical attributes and game tape should move Brazzell up some boards into at least the top 50, if not into the back part of the first round.
There are a handful of teams towards the latter part of the first round who could use some wide receiver help, including the Cleveland Browns, the Buffalo Bills, and perhaps even the Seattle Seahawks. The Browns, New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, Las Vegas Raiders, and Tennessee Titans all have picks early in the second round and could use a speedy impact X receiver.
We’ll find out on April 23 how much Brazzell made a splash, when the 2026 NFL Draft gets underway in Pittsburgh.
