Tennessee Vols are reportedly a threat to swipe a defensive commit from the Alabama Crimson Tide
The Tennessee Vols could swipe a commit from a top SEC rival.
The Tennessee Vols are reportedly a threat to swipe a 2027 football commit from the Alabama Crimson Tide.
According to On3’s Chad Simmons, the Volunteers are one of the programs in the mix for 2027 three-star cornerback Nash Johnson.
Johnson, 6-foot/170 pounds from Powder Springs, GA, has been committed to Alabama since last October. He’s rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 61 cornerback in the nation.
According to Simmons, Auburn and Miami are pushing the “hardest” for Johnson, but Florida and Tennessee are also in the picture.
Tennessee is slated to host Johnson on a visit on April 2.
Johnson is also scheduled to take an official visit to Tennessee on June 12.
“While Johnson remains committed to Alabama, there are signs of distance,” wrote Simmons. “He did not visit Tuscaloosa in January, no spring trip is currently scheduled, and an official visit to Alabama has not been set.”
It seems like the writing is on the wall with Johnson and Alabama. The only question now is whether it’ll be Tennessee or another program that ultimately flips the talented defensive back from the Crimson Tide.
The Vols currently have four players committed to their 2027 recruiting class.
