The Los Angeles Rams saw cornerback Darious Williams enter retirement on Saturday morning, opening up a slot in their cornerback room. As it stands right now, the Rams only have three cornerbacks under contract in Trent McDuffie, Emmanuel Forbes, and Josh Wallace, opening up plenty of playing time and room to reform the secondary.

With free agency approaching, the Rams have plenty of options and cap room to overhaul their cornerback room. However, I think they might opt to be smart and try to add value to fill out the depth in their room, rather than aim for any big name targets. Who should be their top options?

Rams free agent targets at cornerback

Cor’Dale Flott, New York Giants

Flott had an incredible 2025 season that got completely lost in the shuffle because he played for the New York Giants. Allowing just one touchdown with eight pass breakups, Flott was a rare bright spot for the Giants this season. Flott routinely matched up with the top receivers and more than held his ground. 

In his matchups against Justin Jefferson, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Christian Watson, DeVonta Smith, Courtland Sutton, Chris Olave, and George Pickens, Flott allowed just seven catches for 110 yards and zero touchdowns. Flott finished ninth in the league in EPA-allowed. His injury history will impact his free agency value, but this is a player fresh off of a tremendous season. He can be an impact starter opposite of McDuffie.

James Pierre, Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers’ defense is often mostly praised for its defensive line, but James Pierre quietly had a very strong season in Pittsburgh. Pierre allowed just 163 yards despite being targeted 35 times and lead the NFL in Forced Incompletion Rate with a whopping 29% (Sauce Gardner was second at 26%). Pierre allowed just a single touchdown despite often matching up with top receivers and tight ends.

Pierre can give the Rams some good size on the perimeter that they are desperately missing in their secondary, and he’s a smart, physical playmaker that can give the Rams a reliable presence in the rotation. Like Flott, Pierre battled some nagging injuries

Montaric Brown, Jacksonville Jaguars

An underrated part of the Jaguars’ secondary, Brown was a productive cornerback with 10 forced incompletions, including some clutch plays against the Chiefs and Seahawks. Brown often matched up with top receivers and tight ends on the perimeter, and more than held his own. Much like with what Ahkello Witherspoon brought to the team in 2024, Brown can give the Rams a dependable playmaker with good size to handle bigger bodies on the perimeter and add a splash of playmaking to their secondary.

Rock Ya-Sin, Detroit Lions

Rock Ya-Sin isn’t the flashiest cornerback in the league, but he is rock-solid and dependable. He’s a savvy vet with good physicality and production. From 2022 to 2025, Ya-Sin allowed 778 total yards and five touchdowns while recording 16 pass breakups. For comparison’s sake, Emmanuel Forbes gave up 715 yards and seven touchdowns alone for the Rams last season.

For Los Angeles, Ya-Sin would be a smart addition to fill out the depth in the room and give them a veteran presence in the secondary, a crucial addition if they plan on filling out the rest of the cornerback position via the draft. He shouldn’t be their only move, but he would be a wise and prudent one to make.
