Tom Brady clearly sabotaged Mike Vrabel and the Patriots before trading Maxx Crosby to the Ravens

Tom Brady remains as ruthless as ever.

Professional sports are as competitive as it gets and one can construct a formidable argument favoring the NFL as the most competitive of all.

Look no further than the latest report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler: One person involved with trading Las Vegas Raiders superstar Maxx Crosby says there was zero chance Tom Brady would approve dealing him to Mike Vrabel and the New England Patriots.

In case there are some youngsters reading this, or just for those who don’t remember, Brady and Vrabel won three Super Bowls together in New England and were both on the undefeated team that eventually lost to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII.

They also maintain a friendly relationship off the field, but when it comes to doing what’s best for their respective franchises (Brady is a minority owner and involved in strategic decisions), both guys are going to put their past –and present– connection aside and go for the jugular.

“One person involved in the trade made an interesting point about the Patriots’ chances at Crosby: ‘No way Tom [Brady] was sending Maxx to [Mike] Vrabel.’” – Jeremy Fowler

Maxx Crosby was reportedly interested in playing for the Patriots, too

The Athletic’s Diana Russini reported Crosby had his eye on the Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, and Ravens “for weeks” and he previously told her he wanted to play for Vrabel. That’s going to sting Patriots fans, a bit.

“As for this upcoming off season, outside of just free agency, the thing that I’m going to be watching are these players that perhaps want trades,” Russini said on The Sports Hub’s “Zolak & Bertrand”, which is a Boston radio show.

“… Maxx Crosby doesn’t seem too happy in Las Vegas. Is he going to ask for one officially and ask out? Is that a guy? I can tell you, I know he wants to play for Mike Vrabel. He’s told me before.”

There’s nothing dirty about this, at all. It’s simply a man who is widely regarded as the best player of all-time trying to make the Raiders competitive again. We know how Brady pours literally his all into everything he does and he’s not making any exceptions with his latest venture.

It is intriguing to wonder, however, if Crosby goes to New England instead of Baltimore if Brady isn’t in the role he’s in?

And, already got a small win over Vrabel after the Raiders beat the Patriots, 17-10, in Week 1 of last year, so why not keep the streak going?
