The Lions will officially have a compensatory pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, how many picks the Lions have now
The Lions are racking up draft picks
I know free agency is going on right now, but the NFL decided to go ahead and announce compensatory picks for the 2026 NFL Draft right in the middle of arguably the busiest day of it. The Detroit Lions have been awarded one.
The Lions have been awarded a 2026 fifth-round compensatory pick
The Lions get this pick because they lost Kevine Zeitler to the Tennessee Titans in free agency last year. The good news is that they are projected to get an extra compensatory pick in the 2027 NFL Draft for the loss of Amik Robertson. Not sure if they get one for Alex Anzalone at this time.
So how many picks do the Lions have now? At this moment, they have nine draft picks. One first-round pick, one second-round pick, two fourth-round picks (one they got from Houston in the David Montgomery trade), two fifth-round picks, two sixth-round picks (one from the Jaguars in the Tim Patrick trade), and one seventh-round pick. Official draft picks will be announced soon.
