The Philadelphia Eagles haven’t replaced Jaelan Phillips as of yet. Earlier this week, the top pass rusher for Philly agreed to a deal with the Carolina Panthers with an AAV of $30 million. The Birds were probably never getting to that price point, so he assuredly took the best deal on the market.

The EDGE rusher room for the Eagles now looks a bit weaker and thinner than fans would prefer. With that, it sounds like general manager Howie Roseman is looking for ways to fix that sooner rather than later.

Eagles could pivot to a Jonathan Greenard trade

Via Dianna Russini, the Eagles have inquired about Minnesota Vikings pass rusher Jonathan Greenard. It was mentioned recently that the Vikings are open to trading him, as he pursues a new contract. He has two years remaining on his current deal.

Greenard is 28 years old and dealt with an injury last season that shortened his campaign. He has recorded 38 sacks in 77 career games across 6 NFL seasons. He made the Pro Bowl in 2024.

These reports of trade interest follow the fallout of the failed Maxx Crosby trade, as well as the recent agreement for Trey Hendrickson. Both are star talents.

Going after Greenard will cost the Eagles draft capital, as well as a player, potentially.

Philadelphia got involved late for Trey Hendrickson, but he chose the Ravens

According to Jeremy Fowler, the Eagles did check in with Hendrickson before he agreed to a deal with the Baltimore Ravens.

This morning, the Eagles were mentioned as a suitor for the former Cincinnati Bengals pass rusher, but he has since found an agreement with Baltimore after they backed out of their Maxx Crosby trade with the Las Vegas Raiders. It is clear that Howie Roseman is looking to improve the pass rush off the edge somehow this offseason.

For the Eagles, they are running out of options. Trading for Crosby would cost them at least a first-round pick, potentially two of them. Two first-rounders was the original price in place between Vegas and Baltimore.

As for Greenard, acquiring him also comes with another catch. That team will need to carve out a new contract for him. The Eagles currently have $10,515,188 in salary cap space, according to OverTheCap.com.
