The Buffalo Bills finally made a splash, signing pass rusher Bradley Chubb to a three-year deal worth $43.5 million with $29 million guaranteed. It was the organization’s first major move, with the team signing cornerback Dee Alford and bringing back a handful of players.

There’s still plenty of work left to be done, and more than a handful of roster holes still. The Bills and general manager Brandon Beane have their work cut out for them, but there’s still plenty of available options across multiple positions that Buffalo should be interested in.

With the NFL free agency period upon us, let’s take a look at some available targets for Buffalo.

S Jaquan Brisker

The Buffalo Bills need to find a safety to pair alongside Cole Bishop, and with several big names already off the board, we’re looking at Jaquan Brisker. He’s physical and can line up all over the field while helping with the run and blitzing off the edge. His coverage can be inconsistent at times, but he’s an overall good player who would benefit under Jim Leonhard’s new scheme.

He’s coming off the best season of his career after starting all 17 games and is best suited as a box safety. In his coverage, he’s allowed a 101.3 rating and has four career interceptions.

LB Shaq Thompson

Bring back Shaq, there’s not much more to be said. He’s an available linebacker, and the Bills need linebackers, and he did more than enough in his lone season in Buffalo to warrant the Bills bringing him back for another year. It would be another vet minimum contract, and one Buffalo could easily swing. Thompson played so well that captain Terrel Bernard was taken out of the game in favor of Thompson on more than one occasion during the 2025 season.

Thompson played in 12 games for the Bills in 2025, with two passes defensed, one forced fumble, one sack, and 56 combined tackles. He was exceptional in coverage and helped stop the run on a team that struggled mightily to stop the run. He earned a 68.9 for his defense, a 60.7 for his run defense, and a 72.2 for his coverage grades according to Pro Football Focus.

DT D.J. Reader

The Buffalo Bills need some big bodies along the defensive interior, and Reader fits that mold to a tee. Buffalo struggled against the run mightily, and Reader at one point was considered the best nose tackle in the NFL for the Cincinnati Bengals before joining the Detroit Lions.

He took a step back in his game with Detroit, but there’s plenty of gas left in the tank. He’s a starting-caliber nose tackle who can help out a lot in the run game and can be a space eater in the pass rush game, exactly what Buffalo needs this time of year.

Reader appeared in 17 games for Detroit and recorded 28 combined tackles, four quarterback hits, and 20 total pressures. He earned a 68.9 grade for his defense, a 61.7 for his run defense, and a 72.6 for his pass rush, according to Pro Football Focus.

WR Christian Kirk

Getting more weapons for quarterback Josh Allen is never a bad thing, and Kirk and Allen are known to be friends outside of the game of football. It’d be a mid-level signing for Buffalo, and they wouldn’t have any expectation of Kirk being anything other than a No. 3 or No. 4 guy in the offense.

Kirk played in only 13 games for the Houston Teans in 2025, totalling 28 receptions for 239 yards and one touchdown. His last good year was in 2023 with the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he had 57 catches for 787 yards and three touchdowns. It wouldn’t be the flashiest of moves by any means, but my hopes for Darnell Mooney seem to be fading, so I am going with another option instead of rehashing why I want Mooney on this team.

Buffalo needs more bodies in the receiving room, and Kirk would be a cheap veteran deal that would be more than beneficial given how cap-strapped Buffalo is.

EDGE Haason Reddick

You can never have too many edge rushers, and that’s exactly why we’re targeting Reddick for the Bills to target in free agency. He hasn’t lit up the score sheet, and he lost a step after a Week 6 knee injury that cost him four games. Truly, he’d be a rotational piece on the defensive line and wouldn’t be signed to be a true difference-maker on defense.

He flashed quickness and moves that made him a top-tier guy at certain points in 2025, and that’s the type of player the Bills are hoping to get if they sign Reddick to a deal.

The nine-year veteran finished the 2025 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, appearing in 13 games with one pass defensed, one forced fumble, two and a half sacks, and 31 combined tackles. He had 34 total pressures in 2025 and earned a 60.1 grade in pass rushing according to Pro Football Focus.
