Bills fill major roster needs in 3-round mock draft after wild first few weeks of NFL free agency
This would be fun if the Bills were able to pull it off.
The Buffalo Bills have some pressing team needs, most specifically for a linebacker after they haven’t targeted one throughout the first few weeks of the NFL free agency period. Fortunately for Buffalo, they still have the draft to target some major team needs, even outside of linebacker.
Buffalo has been busy, bringing in EDGE Bradely Chubb, wide receiver DJ Moore, and safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, to name a few of the bigger moves throughout the offseason. The roster has been improving, but with several players finding new homes, the team has its work cut out for it.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at the most recent 3-round mock draft for Buffalo.
Round 1, Pick. 26: Akheem Mesidor, EDGE, University of Miami
You can never have too many players getting after the quarterback, and that’s what Mesidor has done throughout his college career. Having Chubb is more than fine, but adding more bodies to that room will go a long way in Jim Leonhard’s new defensive scheme. Winning in the trenches is a must, and the selection of Mesidor allows Buffalo to do exactly that.
He’s established himself as a versatile and relentless pass rusher with consistent production over four years. Over his career, he’s recorded 145 tackles, 45 tackles for loss, and 23 sacks in 50 games. He has an elite pass-rush win rate of 37.5%, which was fourth in the FBS during the 2024 season. At 6-3, 280 pounds, he has exceptional agility and athleticism that allow him to bend around the edge and redirect pursuit angles to chase down ball carriers from sideline to sideline. He would immediately raise the ceiling of the entire room around him. While his age raises some developmental concerns, it’d be a no-brainer if he were on the board for Buffalo at this selection.
Round 3, Pick. 91: Ted Hurst, WR, Georgia State
We got a steal, thanks to Stick To The Model, as Hurst somehow fell to Buffalo in the third round. He established himself as one of the most productive receivers in Georgia State history and has really made a name for himself ahead of the upcoming NFL draft.
By the end of the most recent college football season, Hurst firmly cemented his spot in Georgia State history, fourth in receiving yards, fifth in receptions, fourth in yards per catch, fourth in touchdowns, and fourth in 100-yard games. His athleticism was on full display, with his testing off the charts. Despite being a taller receiver, he still sinks his hips well at the top of route stems and performs effective cuts and route fakes, granting him separation.
He has elite contested-catch abilities and was on the Bilentnikoff Award watchlist, which is exactly why so many teams are fawning over the day-two selection.
Round 4, Pick. 126: Deontae Lawson, ILB, Alabama
Buffalo finds its inside linebacker in the fourth round of the upcoming draft with the selection of Lawson. He’s a highly athletic linebacker who combines movement skills with an ability to read the quarterback’s eyes to make plays on the ball in the air. In 2021, he arrived at Alabama as one of the nation’s top linebacker prospects and was a consensus four-star recruit.
He has experience on special teams along with his prowess as a linebacker. In 2025, he completely evolved his game and was named a permanent team captain and the defensive signal-caller. He had 76 tackles, which included six and a half for loss with two sacks in just 10 games before suffering a season-ending injury. He returned for his fifth season in 2025 as the centerpiece of Alabama’s defense.
