Buffalo Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins is in a bit of hot water, especially with Bills Mafia. While he later clarified that it’s all love, the initial sting doesn’t hurt any less.

The shnowman is beloved for both his on-field play and off-field personality. Dawkins is a force on the football field. He allowed the seventh-lowest pressure rate by any tackle with at least 200 pass block snaps, according to Next Gen Stats.

He also allowed the third-lowest pressure rate when one-on-one, which he was left in at one of the highest in the league.

The dude was given a key to the city! It’s fair to say that Dawkins is beloved.

That’s why his comments seemed just so bizarre. During a Kick stream with controversial star Neon, Dawkins was asked whether he would be willing to leave Buffalo and join the Miami Dolphins if his pay were doubled.

Bills’ Dion Dawkins under fire for viral clip

“I mean, I’m going to tell you the truth. The Bills fans be trying to cook me, so I’d be out of there, I would go [ . . . ] I would leave. [ . . . ] Look, you wanna be loyal, loyal? Tell them to watch their mouths.”

Double pay is really good, and you can’t blame him for saying yes. The shot at the fanbase seemed a bit unprecedented and out of nowhere. He quickly apologized afterward and talked about how much he loved Buffalo, but his initial comments just felt strange.

“I’m just playing, I wouldn’t go. The Bills are too much like a family, man, I wouldn’t go. I’m in year 10, I just want to be at a place where I’m loved, and I’m treated the way I’m supposed to be treated.”

All love, always, for Josh Allen

Dawkins later doubled down on his love for Buffalo and his desire to stay with the team for one of the most obvious reasons: Joshua Patrick Allen.

“I love my quarterback,” Dawkins said. ” I love my quarterback too much to ever walk away.”

It’s just not the best look, even with Dawkins correcting himself shortly after.

At the end of the day, it’s a reminder that even the most beloved players can have a moment that doesn’t land the way they intended. Dawkins said what he said, and while he walked it back, Bills Mafia isn’t going to forget it overnight.

But if his play backs up his words in 2026 and he continues protecting Allen at a high level, this will quickly become nothing more than a blip in an otherwise strong relationship between Dawkins and the city that’s embraced him from day one.

Just, maybe stay off Kick for a little bit with the modern streamers.
