Silent showdown between Joe Brady and Mike Vrabel proves the Bills-Patriots rivalry is alive and well in unforgettable exchange
No, this isn’t the WWE, this is real life, folks. New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel took a shot at Buffalo Bills head coach Joe Brady without saying a single word. It’s safe to say that the division rivalry is alive and well, with the 2026 season still months away.
Don’t try to tell me there’s not some bad blood between AFC East rival coaches, at least that’s what’s coming out of the annual owners meeting in Phoenix, Arizona. The NFL concluded its annual league meeting Tuesday, and it held a wide array of topics from referees to Olympic flag football to an 18-game regular season.
The three-day event had various owners, general managers, and coaches talking about the current makeup of their teams and answering the most pressing questions in the period between free agency and the draft coming up on April 23-25.
While coaches gathered to take the annual photo, new Bills head coach Joe Brady went viral for not really doing anything other than existing. It’s what New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel did to Brady that’s causing waves in the NFL.

Mike Vrabel went full WWE mode on Joe Brady at the annual coaches meeting
As the post on X alluded to, Brady’s crumbled-up sign at the NFL meeting had a bit of a backstory to it. Vrabel was leaving the AFC coaches’ media breakfast, walked past the table where his new AFC rival coach was talking, picked up the sign, mangled it in WWE mode, and both coaches had a good laugh over it.
Vrabel has let his emotions get the best of him at times, and this was another example of that. While it was in good spirit, it was also a sign that the division is yet again up for grabs, and it felt more like a power play from Vrabel rather than a silly little act.
It might’ve gotten a laugh in the moment, but things like this don’t just happen by accident. With new faces, new energy, and the stakes only getting higher, even the smallest interactions are starting to feel a whole lot bigger.
If that was Vrabel setting the tone, Brady and the Bills will have their chance to answer it when it actually counts once 2026 rolls around.
