Bills’ Joe Brady has the fan base ready to run through a brick wall with an unforgettable message about DJ Moore and his role in the offense
DJ Moore in this new Bills offense is going to be electric.
The Buffalo Bills are hoping that the acquisition via trade for wide receiver DJ Moore from the Chicago Bears is going to be the difference-maker the offense has desperately needed.
All offseason, Bills Mafia was pounding the table for the front office to get quarterback Josh Allen some more weapons and help in the offense, and that’s exactly what they did in the early stages of the offseason by acquiring Moore.
What’s more, the decision to bring in Moore has ties to the coaching staff, as new head coach Joe Brady was the offensive coordinator when Moore originally played for the Carolina Panthers, where he excelled in the offense. Brady was asked about Moore’s abilities on the football field, and he left nothing to the imagination with his response about the newly acquired wide receiver.
“I didn’t see a guy that has had any drop-off,” Brady said.
DJ Moore and Joe Brady have a history together, and one that should continue in Buffalo
Taking a step back and looking at the 2025 season, Moore flashed at times even in a crowded receiving room. The eight-year veteran finished the season in Chicago with 50 receptions for 682 yards and six touchdowns. If Buffalo got that exact type of player on the roster in 2025, he would have been second on the team in receptions, second on the team in yards, and first in touchdowns.
It wasn’t just Brady who had history with Moore in Carolina, as the Bills’ wide receiver coach, Drew Terrell, was the offensive quality control coach with Brady while he was the offensive coordinator. The ties back to these two gentlemen helped Buffalo get the deal done with Chicago.
Perhaps Moore’s biggest play, and an indication that he has plenty left in the tank, was his touchdown against the Green Bay Packers that had SportsCenter Top-10 written all over it.
For Brady, he’s hoping to get some of the juice he had with Moore during their time with the Panthers, where he was the offensive coordinator in 2020 and 2021. During those two seasons in Carolina, DJ Moore put up some of his most impressive stats with 66 receptions for 1,193 yards and four touchdowns in 2020 and 93 receptions for 1,157 yards and four touchdowns in 2021.
If Brady can tap back into that version of Moore, the one who consistently produced at a high level in his system, then Buffalo didn’t just add another weapon; they may have found the missing piece to unlock this offense.
And if that happens, the rest of the league is going to have a serious problem on its hands.
