An important domino fell for Rick Barnes and the Tennessee Vols on Tuesday.

The Vols have lost several key players to the NCAA transfer portal as Barnes looks to revamp his roster in an attempt to get Tennessee over the Elite Eight hump.

Forward J.P. Estrella, forward Jaylen Carey, guard Bishop Boswell, guard Clarence Massamba, forward Cade Phillips, and guard Troy Henderson have all entered the transfer portal.

Some of the players the Vols lost would’ve been welcomed back next season, but Tennessee wasn’t going to “overpay” for any of them.

There are still a few players on Tennessee’s roster that have yet to make a decision on their future.

One of those players, however, made a decision on Tuesday afternoon.

Dwayne Brown is returning to Tennessee for another season

6-foot-8 forward Dwayne Brown, a freshman this past season, announced on Tuesday that he’s returning to Tennessee for his sophomore season.

Brown averaged 4.8 points per game as a freshman while averaging 14.7 minutes per game. The Alabama native played in 35 games with 10 starts for the Vols.

The former four-star recruit joins Belmont graduate transfer guard Tyler Lundblade as players who are locked in for the Vols for the 2026-27 season.

Tennessee is still awaiting decisions from Amari Evans and Ethan Burg.

Update:

Evans is entering the portal as of Tuesday afternoon.
