Bills GM Brandon Beane under fire for glaring issue he cannot ignore, and Josh Allen ends up as the biggest loser
The Buffalo Bills haven’t done quarterback Josh Allen many favors when it comes to drafting some offensive weapons for him in the draft. Since 2020, Buffalo ranks dead last in draft capital spent on offensive players. Not a good look for general manager Brandon Beane.
The Buffalo Bills have one of the best players on the planet playing for the team in quarterback Josh Allen. On plenty of occasions, he’s put on his Superman cape and willed his team to victory. The dual-threat quarterback is one of the faces of the league.
However, looking at Buffalo’s previous draft selections over the past several years, they haven’t done Allen any favors. It’s an indictment of general manager Brandon Beane and the front office. They just haven’t provided Allen with much support.
That’s specifically talking about the draft. Obviously, the team has brought in wide receiver DJ Moore to make a difference on offense.
A graphic was released showing the total draft capital spent on offensive players since 2020, and Buffalo ranks dead last. Again, not a good look for Beane and the front office while they have a superstar slinging the football.
The Buffalo Bills have spent the least draft capital on offensive players since 2020
The Bills just haven’t given Allen many weapons to work with. They drafted tight end Dalton Kincaid, whose fifth-year option was just picked up, and that could be considered a big win. Outside of that, the team has left much to be desired in getting Allen some help.
In the second round, they drafted wide receiver Keon Coleman, but we all know how that is turning out. Despite head coach Joe Brady being adamant about Coleman having a role in the offense, there are rumblings that he could be traded.
There just hasn’t been enough ammunition for Allen to be as successful as he can be. Here’s hoping that turns around when the 2026 NFL Draft rolls around. Beane has been vocal that, despite trading for Moore, the team isn’t shying away from taking a wide receiver early.
Buffalo could turn things around in the 2026 NFL Draft
Unfortunately, history tells us that it probably won’t happen. Especially looking at the chart and just how bad the team has been with getting help around Allen.
And that’s what makes this draft feel different.
For years, Buffalo has been able to get by because Josh Allen is Josh Allen. He covers up holes, elevates those around him, and drags the offense to places it probably shouldn’t reach. But at some point, even the best player on the planet needs real, consistent help.
The numbers don’t lie, and neither does the eye test. If the Bills are serious about maximizing their Super Bowl window, this can’t be another year of hoping Allen masks the problem.
It’s time to finally flip the script. If Buffalo doesn’t start investing in offense now, they risk wasting the prime of a generational talent.
