Lady Vols head coach Kim Caldwell made an important move earlier this week by hiring former Georgia Bulldogs assistant Isoken Uzamere as Tennessee’s newest assistant coach.

Caldwell was in need of a new assistant after firing assistant coach Roman Tubner last week.

Swiping Uzamere from the Bulldogs could pay off in a big way for the Lady Vols as soon as this week.

Lady Vols hosting two Georgia transfers on a visit

According to On3’s Talia Goodman, the Lady Vols are set to host a pair of Georgia transfers on a visit — guard Rylie Theuerkauf and forward Zhen Craft.

“After the Lady Vols added Isoken Uzamere to their staff, these two names shouldn’t come as much of a shock,” wrote Goodman. “Sources told On3 that Georgia transfers Rylie Theuerkauf and Zhen Craft will be visiting the Lady Vols. Theuerkauf, a 5-9 junior guard from Tenafly (NJ), averaged 11.9 points per game last year, while shooting 41% from deep. Craft, a 6-2 freshman forward from Waldorf (MD), averaged 5.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.”

The Lady Vols are battling some negative headlines due to the off-the-court issues the program faced last season. That makes Caldwell’s job a bit more difficult this offseason. But bringing Uzamere on staff is clearly helping Tennessee attract transfers.

We’ll see if the Lady Vols are able to close the deal with Theuerkauf and Craft.
