With a little more than a week to go before the 2026 NFL Draft, we finally have news on the first big name the Lions have met with.

The Lions have had a pre-draft visit with Alabama tackle Kadyn Proctor

This is not the first time the Lions have talked with Proctor. They also spoke with him at the Shrine Bowl when he was there supporting his teammates, who were playing in the game, and they had a formal meeting with him at the NFL Combine.

In addition to that, NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah recently reported that the Lions love Proctor and that he did not see the tackle making it past the 17th pick.

How does Proctor fit with the Lions? Despite what some want to say, it’s not at guard. Proctor is definitely a tackle, and while he’s big, he’s one of the more athletic tackles in the draft.

The reports are that he had a very impressive pro day and showed that athleticism there as well. He also showed his power. One reporter said you could hear him hitting the bags from the opposite side of the field. The guy comes with power and athleticism, and I can’t think of two things the Lions love more out of their guys in the trenches.

He reminds me a lot of Penei Sewell in the sense that he can get downfield and lay out some blocks. That’s not to say he’s going to be as good as Sewell. That’s a hard thing to do. But it does demonstrate the type of play he can bring to the field.

At this point, the Lions are picking at 17, and Procter’s average draft position is 31st, but the expectation is that he could move up the board in the coming weeks. 17th might be the spot for him if the Lions truly liked what they saw. Brad Holmes notably loves the Alabama guys. He was back out there again this season.
