Bills make exciting move ahead of the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft with quarterback Josh Allen clearly in mind
The Buffalo Bills have a lot of work to do ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft. That’s why the recent visit with Cincinnati wide receiver Jeff Caldwell is so exciting. While he may not be a day one selection, Buffalo could find a diamond in the rough in the later rounds if they were to select him.
The Buffalo Bills are just days away from selecting what could be No. 26 in the upcoming NFL Draft. Speculation is high whether the Bills are going to draft a wide receiver, a linebacker, or perhaps another EDGE player.
The team is doing its due diligence, meeting with some high-end prospects ahead of the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. Even meeting with players who might be falling outside the top-50 selections. General manager Brandon Beane is leaving no stone unturned with his efforts in preparing for such a monumental challenge ahead.
It’s been reported that the Buffalo Bills have held a Zoom visit with one of the more exciting prospects. That player is wide receiver Jeff Caldwell.
Buffalo Bills met with Cincinnati wide receiver Jeff Caldwell
The 6-foot-5, 216-pound playmaker ran a 4.31 forty and jumped 42 inches with an 11-foot-2 inch broad jump at the recent NFL Combine. He’s an explosive playmaker and an elite athlete who could give quarterback Josh Allen another much-needed weapon.
During his lone season at Cincinnati, he played in 13 games with 32 receptions for 478 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 14.9 yards per reception. When the ball came his way, he always found a way to make something happen.
What would Jeff Caldwell bring to the table if Buffalo drafted him?
Ryan Roberts from A to Z Sports broke down Caldwell as a player and what he might bring to the table if Buffalo were to select him in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. Needless to say, Bills Mafia should be thrilled if he’s one of the official selections.
“Jeff Caldwell began his career at D2 Lindenwood, where he was a star during his last couple of seasons. Blessed with an insane mix of height, length, and speed, it has made Caldwell when of the more interesting developmental wide receivers on Day Three (rounds 4-7). He also has some interesting hip sink for his size, which gives hope for his upside as a diverse route runner.
“On paper is a lot better than Caldwell’s game right now. While he has a ton of athletic upside, his play strength and hands are a work in progress. He will need to find a niche as a special teamer early and hope that his wide receiver skills can be developed appropriately.” – Ryan Roberts
If the Bills are serious about adding size, speed, and upside to their offense, Caldwell checks every box. He may not be a finished product just yet, but that’s exactly what makes him so intriguing at this stage of the draft.
With Allen under center, Buffalo doesn’t need perfection; they need playmakers. And Caldwell has all the tools to become one in a hurry.
If he’s still on the board when the Bills are on the clock later on in the draft, don’t be surprised if Beane takes the swing on a prospect who could end up being one of the biggest steals in the entire draft.
