Florida Gators HC Jon Sumrall continues recruiting heater with another explosive weapon for Buster Faulkner’s offense
Jon Sumrall is recruiting on a different level for the Florida Gators over the last two weeks, and it’s bearing fruit with another commitment.
Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall has been on a wild recruiting heater over the last two weeks.
First, the Gators landed five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller, and followed it up with four-star quarterback Davin Davidson. Then, after the spring game, Sumrall secured the commitment from four-star cornerback and former South Carolina commit Aamaury Fountain. Sumrall’s reaction to that commitment showed everything about how things have grown.
Jon Sumrall lands seventh commit in 2027 recruiting class
While most of the recruiting focus has been with No. 1 overall recruit and Texas Tech Red Raiders commit Jalen Brewster, Sumrall has been focusing on other aspects of the process. In turn, he landed another commit in three-star tight end Tommy Douglas.
From the Hun School in Princeton, New Jersey and the son of NFL executive Joe Douglas, Douglas is a three-star tight end with the profile to be a dynamic blocker as pass catcher for the Gators. He currently measures in at 6-4.5 and 235 pounds, raking as the No. 35 tight end in the class of 2027.
Having tight ends who can play both aspects of the offense. He projects to be a pulverizing run blocker and a dynamic pass catcher. He just visited Gainesville on March 26th and his final visit before committing was to the Penn State Nittany Lions on April 4th.
Douglas is now the seventh member of the 2027 recruiting class.
