Tennessee Vols superfan and country music star Morgan Wallen played a concert at Bryant-Denny Stadium, the home of the Alabama Crimson Tide, last weekend in Tuscaloosa.
Wallen didn’t wear an Alabama jersey during the concert, but he did walk to the stage with legendary former Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban.
Some Vols fans were upset to see Wallen walk out with Saban, but most fans understood it’s just business for the singer.
The fans that were upset, however, likely won’t stay mad at Wallen for long after hearing what he plans to do in East Tennessee.
According to WATE, Wallen, who is from Sneedville, TN, is planning to donate $1.2 million (via The Morgan Wallen Foundation) to Gibbs High School to upgrade its baseball field.
Wallen played baseball at Gibbs before graduating from the high school in 2011.
“With this money, the school should be able to transform the field ‘into a versatile, state-of-the-art multi-use athletic field,’ the county commission said,” reads the report from WATE. “According to the commission, the school also plans to build a softball hitting and pitching facility on its campus.”
Don’t let Wallen walking to the stage with Saban fool you — the country music singer has always been true to his East Tennessee roots, and that clearly isn’t changing anytime soon.
