Kim Caldwell may have found a hidden gem that everyone else is missing that could help the Lady Vols
Kim Caldwell and the Lady Vols aren’t messing around this offseason. Tennessee is looking to get back on track after finishing last season on a eight-game losing streak, and the offseason has been productive so far.
Kim Caldwell and the Lady Vols have had a lot of success in the portal, landing eight transfer additions so far this offseason.
Tennessee still has a few roster spots to fill, so the hunt for transfers isn’t over yet for Caldwell and her coaching staff.
The Lady Vols are hosting a potential hidden gem on a visit
According to VolQuest’s Brent Hubbs, the Lady Vols are hosting Texas Longhorns transfer Aaliyah Moore on a visit.
Moore, a 6-foot-1 forward from Oklahoma, averaged 8.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game in 2024-25.
The talented forward had surgery on both knees in 2025, which caused her to miss the entire 2025-26 season.
As a result, Moore is a bit of a forgotten transfer.
But she’s a player that could absolutely help the Lady Vols.
Two years ago, Moore earned second-team All-Big 12 honors while playing in 33 games with 19 starts for a Texas team that reached the Elite Eight.
Moore has tremendous upside as a player, but injuries have been a problem. On top of the two knee surgeries last year, Moore also tore her ACL in 2023.
I’m sure Moore feels like she has a lot to prove after missing last season — which fits the mold of the type of player Caldwell is looking for.
“I think the one thing that every player that we’ve signed so far has in common is they have a chip on their shoulder,” said Caldwell this week on The Mike Keith Show.
Caldwell has mostly landed transfers with multiple seasons of eligibility. Taking a flier on a graduate transfer like Moore may not be a bad idea. If Moore can stay healthy, she could be what takes the Lady Vols over the top next season.
We’ll see if Moore and Tennessee are a match after her visit to Rocky Top.
