Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Chris Brazzell was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the third round (No. 83 overall) of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Brazzell, who started his career at Tulane before transferring to Tennessee, will be catching passes in Charlotte from former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young.

Young’s NFL career got off to a shaky start, but he put together the best year of his career in 2025, passing for over 3,000 yards for the first time as a pro while leading the Panthers to the playoffs.

Chris Brazzell dishes out some Tennessee vs Alabama trash talk to Bryce Young

Brazzell spoke with reporters Friday night after getting selected by the Panthers.

The former Vol made sure to point out that Young lost to Tennessee in 2022.

“I went to Tennessee, and he went to Bama, so no shade,” said Brazzell when asked for his thoughts on Young. “But I remember watching Bryce Young in 2022 when Tennessee beat Bryce Young. Bryce Young was balling, though. Bryce Young is probably the most underrated quarterback in the league. And I just want to take some stress off his shoulders, to be honest.”

Brazzell told reporters that he grew up rooting for the Panthers, so it’s an appropriate landing spot for the former Vol.

And I’m sure Brazzell and Young will quickly build a great connection — despite their Tennessee and Alabama differences.
