The Tennessee Vols’ top remaining 2027 recruiting target is five-star running back David Gabriel Georges.

Gabriel Georges, 6-foot/205 pounds from Chattanooga, TN (he’s originally from Canada), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 2 running back in the nation and the No. 10 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.

The highly coveted running back is considering Tennessee, Ohio State, Ole Miss, and Georgia. He’s set to begin taking official visits in late May.

David Gabriel Georges comments on Josh Heupel’s involvement in his recruitment

While Ole Miss and Georgia are in the mix for Gabriel Georges, it’s the Vols and the Buckeyes that are viewed as the frontrunners in this battle.

Gabriel Georges recently spoke to On3 and he specifically pointed out that Vols head coach Josh Heupel’s level of involvement in his recruitment has meant a lot to him.

“They were one of the first to recruit me,” said Gabriel Georges. “That showed me a lot. They have been so consistent with me. They call, they text, and they FaceTime me a lot. It is Coach Sims, and Coach Heupel. I like how Coach Heupel is involved. That means a lot to me. I know the staff at Tennessee really well.”

Gabriel Georges also noted that he likes the development of players at Ohio State.

This battle is a toss up at this point. There are some analysts who feel like Ohio State is the team to beat, while others like where Tennessee stands.

Gabriel Georges told On3 that he’ll “figure out” his decision during his official visits.

Tennessee is scheduled to get Gabriel Georges on campus on June 5 for an official visit, which is the week after he visits Ohio State.

Visits to Ole Miss and Georgia will follow.
