The Tennessee Vols’ top 2027 recruiting target is 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges.

Gabriel Georges, 6-foot/205 pounds from Chattanooga, TN (he’s originally from Canada), is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 2 running back in the nation and the No. 10 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are the Vols’ top competition for the highly coveted five-star recruit.

National recruiting analyst doubles down on prediction for David Gabriel Georges

On3’s Steve Wiltfong predicted in early March that Ohio State will win the Gabriel Georges sweepstakes.

The national recruiting analyst doubled down on his prediction this week.

“(Ohio State running backs coach) Carlos Locklyn has been recruiting the Chattanooga (Tenn.) Baylor School product and Canada native longer than any other program and has the best connection with him and his family,” wrote Wiltfong. “I still like where my prediction stands. The Buckeyes bring him back the weekend of May 29 for his official visit and look to hold off Tennessee among others for his signature.”

Gabriel Georges will begin taking official visits soon. And those visits could certainly change the outlook of this battle.

VolQuest’s Austin Price, for what it’s worth, said earlier this offseason that he thinks Tennessee is in a “good spot” for Gabriel Georges, while noting that no decision has been made yet.

“He’s kind of laying low,” said Price of Gabriel Georges. “I continue to maintain that I think Tennessee is in the best spot. And I will stay in that lane as of right now, as we head into the spring. To me, it’s always been a two team race…I just don’t see another team entering this race. Maybe I’ll be wrong, and all of a sudden, here comes another school that factors in. But it just feels like it’s a two team race. Again, I like where Tennessee is there. I think Tennessee’s done a really nice job — they’ve done as well as they possibly could do to this point.”

Ohio State and Tennessee are both doing all they can to land the stud running back. We should see in a couple of months which program comes out on top in this battle.
