The Tennessee Vols’ top 2027 recruiting target is five-star running back David Gabriel Georges, who is rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 running back in the nation.

Gabriel Georges is set to begin taking official visits later this month, and he’s taking those visits in a very strange order.

David Gabriel Georges is visiting the frontrunners in his recruitment first

Gabriel Georges is scheduled to take his first official visit to Ohio State on May 29, followed by visits to Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Georgia (in that order).

While Gabriel Georges has Ole Miss and Georgia among his finalists, it’s widely believed that this recruiting battle is ultimately between Ohio State and Tennessee.

That’s why it’s odd that Gabriel Georges is visiting his two frontrunners first and then saving Ole Miss and Georgia for last.

“I know David’s trying to play up all four, but it’s a two team race,” said VolQuest’s Austin Price this week on WNML’s Josh and Swain. “Tennessee and Ohio State are the top two schools here. They’ve been the top two schools the entire time. It is interesting that he’s going to visit those two schools first. Normally, you would do the undercards first and the main event last. But he’s going to lead with the main event schools, Ohio State first and Tennessee second. And then follow it up with the other two.”

I don’t know if there’s any meaning behind the order of Gabriel Georges’ visits, or if it’s just the way it worked out logistically for him. Either way, it’s an odd decision from one of the most coveted recruits in the nation.

These visits, by the way, are going to be extremely important for the five-star running back.

“I’ll figure it out on the official visits,” said Gabriel Georges to Rivals earlier this week. “I want my family to see every school. How I’m going to live there, the people — that’s important. All four schools have my attention, and the official visits will be very big for me and my family.”

Gabriel Georges doesn’t currently have a planned commitment date, but the feeling is that he’ll make a decision sometime this summer after he takes his official visits.
