Las Vegas Raiders make another minicamp roster move that’s eerily similar to a few they have already made
The Las Vegas Raiders are bringing in all the talent they can, and this time, it was another Indiana player.
The Las Vegas Raiders have been adding and subtracting from the back end of the roster this last week. With the rookie minicamp here, Vegas is bringing in guys for tryouts; they want to see something from them.
The Raiders have also brought in a few guys with connections to Fernando Mendoza. We all know about UDFA signings Roman Hemby, the former Hoosier RB, and EJ Williams, the former Indiana WR. Those two have a good shot at fighting for a roster spot or practice squad spot. Then, on Monday, they signed another former Indiana Hoosier, a player who has chemistry with Mendoza.
According to several reports, the Raiders signed Jonathan Brady. He actually played with Mendoza at Cal and Indiana, and the two combined for six receiving touchdowns during their two seasons as college teammates. Brady is also a Las Vegas native, winning a state title with state powerhouse Bishop Gorman. So, there are several connections there, and the Raiders want to see what he has to offer.
Raiders are trying to find anyone who can make the room better
“I like our WR room, I love Tre Tucker, we’re excited about Jalen Nailor, we drafted Jack Bech in the second, we have belief in Jack, we drafted Dont’e Thornton in the 4th last year, we believe in him, I’m excited with Malik Benson,” Spytek said on the Kay Adams show.
Spytek loves the room, and he’s confident with the top end of it. That’s why they didn’t take a WR at the top of the draft. What they’re looking for are those last few spots that seem open, and anyone who makes the room better. Could that be Brady? Yes. Sure, he was undrafted and unsigned, but he has a rapport with Mendoza.
Jonathan Brady’s career stats
- 2022 at New Mexico State: 23 catches, 310 receiving yards, 13.5 YPC, 3 TDs
- 2023 at New Mexico State: 39 catches, 621 receiving yards, 15.9 YPC, 4 TDs
- 2024 at Cal: 36 catches, 386 receiving yards, 10.7 YPC, 3 TDs
- 2025 at Indiana: 14 catches, 115 receiving yards, 8.2 YPC, 3 TDs
Brady has 1,400 career receiving yards on 112 catches and 13 career touchdowns. Brady is a smaller receiver at 5’10, 185. However, he’s got some speed and twitch to him. The Raiders seem to like him enough to send an invite, so we will see if he makes the roster or practice squad.
