Ryan Day’s son is taking an official visit to a Big Ten school where a former Ohio State football coach is
In an interesting development, the son of Ohio State football coach Ryan Day will be taking an official visit to a Big Ten school. Not just any school in the Big Ten, one where a former Buckeyes coach calls home.
Ryan Day knows all about the world of recruiting as the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Day family is going through the process of a recruitment right in their own household, as well.
RJ Day is a 2027 quarterback recruit right in the Columbus area at St. Francis de Sales. The 5-foot-11 quarterback is entering a pivotal summer and senior season for his recruitment. The son of Ohio State’s head man has his first official visit scheduled

The younger Day will be taking an official visit to see the Northwestern Wildcats football program this weekend. Day will be at Northwestern May 8-10, and will surely be joined by his father for at least part of the visit, you would think. Northwestern offered Day just last week.
Where it gets interesting is that former Ohio State offensive coordinator Chip Kelly is the offensive play caller at Northwestern. Kelly was the coach to offer Day, which should come as no real surprise. Kelly and Ohio State’s Day have a relationship dating back to when Kelly coached him at New Hampshire.
Day is the No. 84 quarterback in the class of 2027 and No. 1317 overall player, per 247 Sports Composite. The 5-foot-11, 203-pound quarterback has offers from Purdue, Boston College, Syracuse, Cincinnati, South Florida, and Northwestern amongst others.
Coach Day won’t be coaching his son in Columbus, he’s already been open about the possibility of it happening, and it won’t. Landing in a spot like Northwestern would be ideal as a lower to middle of the pack Big Ten team. The education part of it can’t be overlooked either.
With this being the first known official visit scheduled for Day, it shows he’s seriously considering playing in the Big Ten. There’s a world where Ohio State is playing the younger Day down the road, and that’s pretty cool.
