‘I think Tennessee intends to do whatever they need to do’ – Vols fans receive an assurance they’ve been hoping to get
The Tennessee Volunteers appear to be committed to doing whatever they need to do in order to land their top 2027 recruiting target, and that includes spending big money.
If the Tennessee Vols don’t land 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges later this summer, it won’t because UT wasn’t willing to pay him.
Tennessee is battling the Ohio State Buckeyes for Gabriel Georges. The elite running back is set to begin his official visit tour later this month.
The feeling is that Gabriel Georges will commit sometime this summer after taking his official visits.

Tennessee is willing to do what it takes financially to land David Gabriel Georges
Gabriel Georges isn’t expected to make his decision based purely on finances, but it will obviously be a factor.
And fortunately for Tennessee fans, VolQuest’s Austin Price believes the Volunteers intend to do “whatever they need to do” to land Gabriel Georges.
“I think Tennessee intends to do whatever they need to do to land David Gabriel Georges in terms of the financial package,” said Price on WNML’s Josh and Swain on Wednesday. “He’s really important to them. I think they intend to be a heavy player there. And so I think the want and the need — all of that matches up with Tennessee taking a big swing for DGG.”
It sounds like Tennessee is prepared to write whatever check they need to write to land Gabriel Georges. But again, the decision won’t be made based solely on finances.
As for where the Vols stand in this battle?
Well, it’s a coin flip between Tennessee and Ohio State.
“Tennessee’s in as good a spot as they can be, as we sit here in early May,” said Price on 104.5 The Zone’s Ramon and Will. “Now, I don’t believe David Gabriel Georges has made up his mind. No matter what everybody wants to say, and has pushed [that] narrative for so long, I don’t believe Gabriel Georges has made a decision.
“I think he likes both schools. I think there are perks at both, and that’s why he’s going to go through the official visit process. Tennessee has some nice feathers in their cap, and Ohio State does as well. But again, I continue to like where Tennessee is at, as we sit here in early May. But I also firmly believe DGG does not know for certain what he’s doing right now, and so he is going to go through the process and see where things shake out.”
The official visits for Gabriel Georges loom large in this recruiting battle.
