Tennessee Vols 5-star recruiting target David Gabriel Georges has reportedly set a commitment date
2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges is the Tennessee Volunteers’ top recruiting target. The Ohio State Buckeyes, Ole Miss Rebels, and Georgia Bulldogs are also pursuing the elite recruit.
The Tennessee Vols will know by the end of the summer if they’re the winners of the David Gabriel Georges sweepstakes.
Gabriel Georges, 6-foot/205 pounds from Chattanooga, TN (he’s originally from Canada), is a five-star running back in the 2027 recruiting class. He’s rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 running back in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee.
Ohio State, Ole Miss, and Georgia are also in the mix for the five-star recruit.
Tennessee and Ohio State, however, are viewed as the two frontrunners in this battle.
David Gabriel Georges has reportedly set a commitment date
Gabriel Georges is scheduled to begin taking official visits later this month. He’ll head to Ohio State first before checking out Tennessee. Gabriel Georges will finish his official visit tour with trips to Ole Miss and Georgia.
According to 247Sports’ Tom Loy, Gabriel Georges is planning to announce his commitment on July 22.
“The big-time back is set to commit on July 22,” wrote Loy of Gabriel Georges. “The finalists are Ohio State, Tennessee, Georgia and Ole Miss. The Rebels believe they can pull off the upset. The Bulldogs have a commitment locked in from five-star running back Kemon Spell, so they are playing with house money. The Volunteers and Buckeyes are surely the most confident heading into Gabriel Georges’ four official visits.”
July 22 is the third day of SEC Media Days in Tampa (Vols head coach Josh Heupel is scheduled to speak on July 20).
While Gabriel Georges now has a commitment date scheduled, it doesn’t mean that his mind is made up.
“Tennessee’s in as good a spot as they can be, as we sit here in early May,” said VolQuest’s Austin Price last week on 104.5 The Zone’s Ramon and Will. “Now, I don’t believe David Gabriel Georges has made up his mind. No matter what everybody wants to say, and has pushed [that] narrative for so long, I don’t believe Gabriel Georges has made a decision.
“I think he likes both schools. I think there are perks at both, and that’s why he’s going to go through the official visit process. Tennessee has some nice feathers in their cap, and Ohio State does as well. But again, I continue to like where Tennessee is at, as we sit here in early May. But I also firmly believe DGG does not know for certain what he’s doing right now, and so he is going to go through the process and see where things shake out.”
It goes without saying that the official visits will be critical in determining who wins this recruiting battle.
