Raiders quarterback Kirk Cousins is already starting to look like he’s good luck for Las Vegas, and he’s not even played a snap yet
The Las Vegas Raiders quarterback was at the Golden Knights’ overtime playoff win on Tuesday night.
The Las Vegas Raiders brought on a new quarterback this offseason in Kirk Cousins, and he’s already bringing good luck to the city.
On Tuesday night, the Vegas Golden Knights played a playoff hockey game. They are one round away from the conference finals, where, after winning that series, they would go on to the Stanley Cup Final. The Knights were tied two games to two with the Anaheim Ducks before Tuesday’s game. The entire game was a rollercoaster for the Knights. They would score a goal in epic fashion, and then give up one to the Ducks just before heading into overtime. But that’s what makes playoff hockey so great.
Cousins was at the game and actually did the pre-game ceremony, turning on the loud horn. Of course, the Knights’ social media team put in all caps “YOU LIKE THAT?” The Knights ended up winning in overtime with Cosuins in attendance, along with Raiders RBs Dylan Laube and Ashton Jeanty.
Not to mention, Laube was on the Jumbotron with his shirt off, twirling it in the air. Some are saying Cousins is good luck already, and the Raiders are hoping that’s the case.
Raiders can still get a lot out of Cousins
Cousins, even after starting as a backup in Atlanta in 2025 and playing 10 games, performed well in advanced metrics. For instance, he posted an 89.5% Catchable Ball Percentage (seventh-best among players with 100+ attempts) and a 78.1% On Target Percentage (sixth-best), demonstrating strong accuracy.
Cousins is still an accurate thrower. However, now success depends on fitting within the right system, calling the right plays, and having strong support. His familiarity with Kubiak from their time in Minnesota in 2023 helps ensure a smooth transition. Ultimately, the Raiders got the two quarterbacks they wanted, and Cousins has shown he’s committed to helping Mendoza.
