Potential post-June 1st cuts that the Detroit Lions could be interested in grabbing ahead of training camp

The Detroit Lions still have four roster spots open, and eventually they’re going to fill those spots before they head to training camp in July. Luckily, they may have that opportunity in a couple of weeks when teams make their post-June 1st cuts to maximize the cap savings. Here are some players to keep an eye on for Detroit.
Jets DT Mazi Smith
The Lions aren’t getting a starter out of the former Michigan Wolverine and first-round pick. But what they do get is something they need right now. Some extra depth on the interior of their defensive line. Smith fits well in the rotation as a run stuffer and space eater.
Jaguars DT Arik Armstead
Now here is a guy who can play some serious snaps for the Lions, and they were interested in signing him not too long ago. The Jags can save $14,5 million by cutting him, and that would give the Linos an opportunity to bring him in and have one heck of a rotation with Alim McNiell and Tyleik Williams.
Ravens DT Broderick Washington
Another veteran rotational defensive tackle. He missed most of last season due to injury, but he’s been a consistent 500-snap-a-year guy for the Ravens for quite a while. He could come in and be that extra run stuffer the Lions really need, as Smith would be. But not quite an impact player like Armstead would be.
Bucs LB Sirvocea Dennis
Now that the Bucs have Alex Anzalone and Josia Trotter, Dennis finds himself as a possible odd man out. He can come in and theoretically help the Lions wean Jimmy Rolder into his expected starting spot. Dennis started for the Bucs last year, and while he wasn’t a Pro Bowler by any means, he was serviacveble and could be a good rotational pass rusher from the linebacker spot.
