Brandon Beane and the Bills are on the verge of losing one of the franchise’s most important employees after years of NFL interest
The Bills front office has been one of the NFL’s most stable for several seasons, now. Brandon Beane and Co. could be looking to replace a very vital member as soon as the end of this week.
The front office of an NFL franchise often operates behind the scenes, outside a few media appearances, here and there.
Therefore, a lot of hard work and good decisions go unnoticed, or at least unnamed, in the public eye. Many times, men and women in certain roles have swung the pendulum in favor of a particular player that becomes a franchise cornerstone and whatnot.
Regardless, Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane has had to hold his breath in regards to assistant general Terrance Gray over the last couple of years. Gray has become a hot name and plenty of NFL teams have shown interest in hiring him as their own GM.
As a result, Gray was promoted to assistant GM last offseason after serving as the organization’s director of player personnel for the last three years. He previously served as the team’s director of college scouting before getting promoted to assistant director of player personnel from 2017-2022.
Well, both Beane and Gray find themselves in the same spot as the last couple of offseasons. Per Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, Gray is undertaking a second interview for the Minnesota Vikings GM position this week and is considered a finalist for the job. He was also a finalist for the Tennessee Titans GM opening, last year.
Previous reports stated the Vikings trimmed their list to five players ahead of the second round of interviews, but the word “finalist” was not attached. Gray joins current Vikings interim GM Rob Brzezinski, Denver Broncos assistant GM Reed Burckhardt, Los Angeles Rams assistant GM John McKay, and Seattle Seahawks assistant GM Nolan Teasley in the finalist group.
So, if things go well for Gray, the Vikings could certainly pull the trigger.
Notable players drafted during Terrance Gray’s time with the Bills
As mentioned above, Gray has been with the Bills since Brandon Beane was hired in 2017. Below are the top players drafted since then, in chronological order:
- CB Tre’Davious White
- T Dion Dawkins
- LB Matt Milano
- QB Josh Allen
- LB Tremaine Edmunds
- CB Taron Johnson
- DT Ed Oliver
- TE Dawson Knox
- K Tyler Bass
- RB James Cook
- LB Terrel Bernard
- WR Khalil Shakir
- CB Christian Benford
- G O’Cyrus Torrence
- CB Maxwell Hairston
This is all part of the NFL cycle, it just so happens to be happening much later in the year than normal. Either way, we’ll find out soon enough if Gray is still part of the Buffalo Bills franchise.
