Oklahoma Sooners finally do what everyone has been waiting months for regarding their 2027 recruiting class
The Oklahoma Sooners just landed one of the very best players in the 2026 recruiting class, cornerback Gabriel Osborne.
The Oklahoma Sooners just landed one of the players they have been pushing the hardest for. On Monday, Gabriel Osborne, the 2027 four-star cornerback from Mustang, Oklahoma, committed to OU.
This is one of the things the Sooners have been trying to get for a while. He chose his home state school over Michigan, Miami, Ohio State, and Oklahoma State.
Osborne was ranked the No. 5 cornerback in the 2027 recruiting class and the No. 3 overall prospect in the state. A star on both the football field and basketball court at Mustang High School, Osborne has shown impressive athleticism as a dual-sport talent. And as a cornerback, he can do it all there, too, playing both press-man and zone coverage.
Nationally, Osborne sits at No. 29 overall. With Oklahoma already holding commitments from the state’s top two prospects and favored to land others, its roots in the state are growing stronger than they once were under Lincoln Riley. OU’s 2027 recruiting class continues to gain steam. No one is recruiting like Jim Nagy and Brent Venables are right now.
A few weeks ago, Osborne let everyone know he would be taking visits before picking a school. He wanted to get the full experience and really see how everything played out. He went on his visit to Oklahoma this past weekend, and that seemed to be enough.
Sooners secondary in their 2027 recruiting class is elite
Right now, OU has four-star CB Mikhail McCreary and three-star CB Mikyal Davis on the roster with Osborne. OU is also projected to land Trenton Blaylock, a Texas cornerback and the brother of RB Tory Blaylock.
As far as the safety position, Oklahoma has only Jaylen Scott, a four-star safety from Alabama. They are also projected to land four-star safety Bode Sparrow, Utah’s best player. This class is coming together so nicely.
