The Alabama Crimson Tide held its first official visit weekend of the summer last week, and it turned out to be fruitful for the Crimson Tide. Alabama secured a commitment from 2027 four-star running back Nigel Newkirk and laid the groundwork for what would be a monumental commitment from Monshun Sales.

But Alabama isn’t only focused on the 2027 class. The Crimson Tide secured its second 2028 commitment after the weekend, and it’s a major get for Alabama’s defense.

Alabama receives a commitment from 2028 3-star LB Dustin Henry

Henry was originally a class of 2029 commit who reclassified after his freshman year to join quarterback Charles Scott as a member of the class of 2028 for Alabama’s recruiting interests.

When watching the HUDL tape of Henry, there is a lot to like. Number one is his size. He’s one of the taller players on the field, and despite being spindly, he has the frame to add a ton of mass.

After that, you see real explosion, technique, and range in his film. He played a lot of APEX and single high safety during his freshman year, flashing the range to get off the hash and the hit power to come down and thump ball carriers and pass catchers.

He’s the kind of player you would love to see Kane Wommack get his hands on, as he projects to be a STING backer in Wommack’s 4-2-5 swarm. While Henry still has two years of high school ball left, it’s a good sign for the Crimson Tide as they aim to round out the 2027 class and get closer to making an impact in 2028.
