The NFL’s social media team started a stir on social media between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers fanbases when they posted a teaser for the Top-100 reveal show.

The teaser insinuated Packers star pass rusher Micah Parsons was giving the No. 1 spot to Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams and I’ll admit some of us Bears writers jumped the gun on that.

Turns out, Parsons revealed his comments were taken out of context, much to the joy of every Packers fan on the internet.

On Tuesday, the NFL added more context to Parsons’ opinion on Chicago’s electric quarterback while even adding a warning shot in the process.

Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams just got a warning shot from Green Bay Packers DE Micah Parsons

“I can’t lie, the celly and everything is super great, I won’t even lie to you,” Parsons said about Williams’ “Iceman” gimmick on the latest NFL Top-100 teaser. “He really sped his clock up, he wasn’t taking as many sacks, he felt confidence in the system. . .

“I always want to see people succeed, regardless of who they play for. Just don’t want to see you succeed against me. Like I said, I got something for ‘Iceman’ for sure. Where there’s ice, there’s also fire. And I’m the fire.”

That’s still not the kind of energy Packers fans will fully want to see from Parsons when referring to a Bears quarterback, but it shows the level of competitive respect Williams has earned from one of the best pass rushers in the game.

And it’s not like Parsons is glazing the enemy. He’s still looking at Williams like prey and will be gunning for him next season. It’s great to see the one-on-one rivalry continue to build between the two, but there’s also some clear mutual respect on and off the field.

Micah Parsons might have to wait longer than expected to melt the ‘Iceman’

Parsons only got one opportunity to face off against Williams last season and it was a game that ended with a Williams interception to lose the game. However, Parsons never quite managed to bring down the slippery Williams.

Parsons missed the other two contests against the Bears after suffering a torn ACL and his lengthy rehab process could force him to miss a third opportunity in 2026.

The Bears and Packers first matchup is scheduled for Week 5 and the expectation is that Parsons will open the regular season on the PUP list. If that’s the case, the earliest he could possibly be back would be Week 5, but it’s sounding like a long-shot with the way the Packers handle injury returns.

The other matchup between the Bears and Packers this upcoming season in scheduled for Christmas Day, which is likely the game we finally see “Iceman” go up against the “Fire.”
