Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall has been recruiting his butt off since he took the job on November 30th, 2025. With 22 commitments and the No. 5 overall class, things are going very well for the program.

They are about to get even better this weekend. Not only is Texas Longhorns commit five-star wide receiver Easton Royal set to make an official visit, he will be joined by No. 1 overall recruit Jalen Brewster, who is committed to Texas Tech.

Florida Gators Recruiting Class

  • With 22 commitments in the 2027 class, the Florida Gators have the No. 5 overall recruiting class.
  • Sumrall’s class has 16 blue chip commitments, the most of any program in the nation, with second place being three schools with 14.
  • Their top commit is five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller, who is the first five-star offensive lineman since Martez Ivey in 2015.

Florida Gators set to host Jalen Brewster

It’s a massive coup for the Gators to land an official visit from Brewster, who has already visited twice during spring practice. He profiles to be an excellent player not only at the college level, but likely in the NFL as well. At 6-3 and 300 pounds, Brewster could play across the Gators’ interior defensive line, which would be a huge coup.

The visit itself is a massive one for the Gators to land, as Brewster has previously visited the SMU Mustangs, LSU Tigers, and Texas Longhorns on an official capacity. They won’t have the last visit, with Texas Tech getting the final one the weekend of June 19th.

If the Gators can land Brewster, it would flip their recruiting class on its head. He would become the sixth defensive lineman in the class of 2027, but the only one ranked in the top-100. Sumrall has been prioritizing having high-upside players at the position who have been undervalued, including three-star defensive lineman Stive-Bentley Keumajou Yondui, who moved to the United States from London just one year ago.

The benefit of having both Royal and Brewster on campus at the same time would be huge for the Gators, as they can pitch them to commit together, giving them an advantage.
