Jordan Love may have identified the final piece needed to elevate his game into MVP territory, and that’s huge for the Packers
The quarterback wants to be better in the pocket. If he can elevate his game there, the tools are in place for a special season.
Jordan Love already is a high-level starting quarterback in the NFL. Last year, he took a significant leap, and the numbers confirm that premise. Love was second in adjusted EPA/play, seventh in success rate, and third in completion percentage over expectation. And that happened handling a banged up and underwhelming offensive line, and injuries in his pass-catching group throughout the season.
However, that doesn’t mean Love is satisfied with his evolution after six NFL seasons. The quarterback keeps trying to get better, and he has a defined goal this offseason: Movement in the pocket.
“My biggest thing that I’ve noticed since I got back is just my feet in the pocket, trying to be as smooth and consistent as possible,” Love said during mandatory minicamp. “When I go through my reads, get into my hitches and not getting antsy, not getting to that point where you’re trying to move through the pocket too fast.”

Style and efficiency
Jordan Love is frequently criticized by his fade-away throws. Not many quarterbacks can do that and keep the efficiency, but Love mastered the art of it. Nonetheless, knowing when to do that trick is important.
“Just staying calm, staying relaxed, move through my reads,” Love added. “If I’ve gotta move around in the pocket, keeping those movements pretty tight and not kind of running into where guys might be peeling off and able to hit you. So just really trying to focus on my feet, my pocket movements.”
Between 2023 and 2024, Love’s first years as a starter, he had been 17th in success rate. He improved to seventh last year, and consistency was the key for it. But Love wants to be even more accurate to elevate his game.
“All those things are tied to accuracy and just the timing of routes and things like that,” Love mentioned. “So just trying to be as dialed in as possible. That’s the biggest thing I’ve been trying to work on so far.”
Jordan Love will realistically have more volume in 2026. If he can keep the efficiency and even improve upon what he’s done for the Packers, the quarterback has a real shot to become one of the top passers in the game. And that’s what Green Bay trusts him to do.
