English soccer legend Harry Kane is all too familiar with Kansas City and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes
The city of Kansas City is one of the few World Cup host cities, and England is staying in Soccer Village.
The Kansas City Chiefs are in one of the country’s premier locations for the World Cup. They’re a host city to Argentina, the Netherlands, England, and Algeria. This week, we saw England play Croatia, where they won what was maybe the best game of the tournament so far.
England’s star striker scored two goals in that match. And then, a day later, he was seen at the Kansas City Royals game with a few of the team’s players. It’s safe to say Kansas City has been a great host city, with plenty to do and tons of love from the fans. Outside of the weather near the beginning, it’s been a near-perfect host.
“Since we’ve arrived, it’s been nothing but positivity,” Kane said.
And Kane is no stranger to Kansas City, either. Sure, he’s not been there a ton, but he tried new things like BBQ and even mentioned that he doesn’t know if the team would let him keep eating it, but he would if he could. And then, of course, he mentioned one of the things Kansas City is most known for—the Chiefs and their star player.
England Striker Harry Kane talks Patrick Mahomes
“[Patrick] Mahomes is great, one of the best ever already,” Kane said. “I’m sure he’ll be looking for another big season this year.”
The Chiefs have had a handful of international games over the last few years. During their dynasty, the brand has grown a ton, to the point where international players in other sports know them. And, Mahomes is a huge reason why. He is the most popular person in the league, and it’s probably not even close. So, yes, Harry Kane knows Mahomes.
Now, his knowing ball like that is probably not what others expected. But it’s obvious Mahomes is set to be one of the greatest of all time. He’s going into his tenth year, and he’s only not made the postseason once, which was last season. He hasn’t made the AFC Championship Game in any of the eight seasons he’s made the playoffs. And, Mahomes has been to five Super Bowls and won three.
