Miami Hurricanes’ biggest 2027 recruiting win just got even more sparkle without doing a thing
The crown jewel of the Miami Hurricanes’ recruiting class got a bump up the rankings.
The Miami Hurricanes’ 2027 class is a long and impressive list of talent. Mario Cristobal has capitalized on his team’s 2025 run to the national championship game and assembled a potentially strong foundation for the future.
Among all that talent, the headliner of the class of five-star CB Donte Wright from Long Beach, California. Cristobal pulled off one of the biggest and most eye-opening recruiting wins of the year when he got Wright to flip his commitment from Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs to the Canes back in May.
And that pick up is starting to look better and better for Miami. Rivals updated its rankings on Monday, and Wright moved up to the top cornerback in the nation and the No. 4 player overall in their rankings.
Miami 5-star commit Long Beach, CA CB Donte Wright moved up in Rivals’ latest rankings, is now the top cornerback in 2027 class
“The Long Beach (Calif.) Long Beach Poly standout was stellar at The Opening Finals,” On3 Sports’ Charles Power wrote. “Wright’s smooth movement skills and ability to flip his hips and cut on a dime currently serves as a differentiator among the top cornerback prospects.”
Wright is still listed as the No. 2 corner, No. 10 overall player, and top player in the state of California for the 2027 cycle per Rivals’ industry rankings that takes into account other sites in the industry. Wright is Miami’s highest rated player in both categories.
Miami is still chasing some big fish to close out their top three class, including Ohio State commit DL DJ Jacobs. But it’ll be tough to top Wright as the top prize for Miami’s class going into the early signing period in December.
