Oklahoma Sooners fans are going to love what was just confirmed about the football team’s upcoming 2026 schedule
The Oklahoma Sooners are going to be a much more fun team to watch in 2026, and seeing them in their throwback uniforms against Kentucky will be fun, too.
The Oklahoma Sooners have some of the best uniforms in college football. Anyone who argues that, well, of course, they just don’t have good taste.
The Sooners have a classic look that rivals only schools like the Alabama Crimson Tide. You know that Crimson and Cream when you see it. And, let’s be honest, that OU on the side is just one of the better logos in CFB, too. But, even so, the fan base likes a little change-up every now and then. That’s why they absolutely love the throwback uniforms that they’ve had for a few years now. Not everyone in the fan base likes the grey anthracite uniforms.
But the throwback uniforms are from the Bud Wilkinson era, specifically honoring the team’s look from 1946 to 1956. Now fans know when the team is set to wear them in 2026. According to the Sooners’ official page, the Kentucky game will have a throwback theme. So, we can only assume this means they will wear those uniforms then.
Last season, they wore them against Kent State, in a game that saw Michael Hawkins get the start with John Mateer out. So, we haven’t seen the Sooners QB in them yet. Also, in their first year using them in 2024, the Sooners wore them against Houston. This will be the first time OU will wear them against an SEC opponent. That has to be a bit exciting.
Oklahoma Sooners have the second-hardest schedule in the country
The Sooners will always look good on the field aesthetically. Now, whether or not they look good on the field is different. They have the second-hardest schedule in football. And, they have a ton of expectations on their side. Many expect them to win a College Football Playoff game.
If there’s any year they can do that in the Brent Venables era, it’s this season. So, yes, they will look good. But will they be fun to watch? Only time will tell.
