Only one Tennessee player made The Athletic’s pre-season All-SEC first team
Only one Tennessee Volunteers football player was included on The Athletic’s preseason All-SEC first team.
Only one Tennessee Vols player was included this week on The Athletic’s pre-season All-SEC first team.
The Athletic’s Seth Emerson revealed his pre-season All-SEC teams on Friday and he included Tennessee left guard Wendell Moe on the first team.
Moe spent the first three seasons of his college career at Arizona before landing at Tennessee as a transfer addition ahead of the 2025 season.
“He was first-team All-SEC last year, when he played eight games at right guard and three at left guard after transferring from Arizona,” wrote Emerson of Moe.
Moe was kind of an under-the-radar addition by the Vols last offseason, though he was talked up a bit by the SEC Network’s Cole Cubelic.
“I do like Wendell Moe that [Tennessee] got from Arizona,” said Cubelic last year before the season. “I think he’s a good player and a bit of a tone setter guy that you need.”
Moe and offensive tackle David Sanders Jr, who is a strong candidate to be an All-SEC player after the season, will hold down the left side of Tennessee’s offensive line in 2026.
(I can’t imagine many quarterbacks will have better protection on their blindside.)
One other Vol was included on Emerson’s All-SEC second team — running back DeSean Bishop.
Bishop, a former walk on, had a breakout season for the Vols in 2025, rushing for 1,076 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also caught 15 passes for 135 yards.
