Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady just kept it all the way real regarding his new quarterback, Fernando Mendoza
The Las Vegas Raiders have the greatest quarterback of all time as one of their owners in Tom Brady and a rookie stud in Fernando Mendoza.
The Las Vegas Raiders finally have their quarterback, and the former QB in the front office, Tom Brady, is obviously very excited.
Having Tom Brady as a mentor is surely something that Raiders rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza will not take advantage of. Is there a better person to be your mentor if you’re a young quarterback? No, absolutely not. And Mendoza has already gotten some sound advice from him.
And now, Tom Brady is going on TV, not even sports TV, and letting everyone know how he feels about Mendoza. He doesn’t feel any different about Mendoza because it’s his rookie on the team he owns and helped draft. He doesn’t have a biased opinion on Mendoza because they have a relationship. If anything, he’s going to be just as hard on Mendoza as anyone else. And, we are already seeing that,
“I love Fernando, but Fernando is like every other young rookie. He’s got to go out there and earn it like everybody else,” minority owner and former quarterback Tom Brady said on FOX Business.
Fernando Mendoza is working for every bit of the franchise QB tag
Mendoza is the franchise quarterback and the Raiders’ future, no doubt. However, the franchise is really making him earn it. Sure, we all know that Kirk Cousins is the starter by now. There’s a “battle,” but it’s Cousins’ to lose. He’s got the experience, and he can still throw the pigskin, too. But Mendoza hasn’t even really been the backup yet.
At OTAs, he’s pretty much been running with the threes more than anything else. So, I guess you could say that Aidan O’Connell is currently QB2. Now, obviously, that won’t be the case this season. But it shows they are really making him work for it, and he’s shown he understands the position he is in.
Mendoza has already taken Brady’s advice in a few ways, and we can see they are similar in some ways. Sure, Brady is more cold-blooded and a stone-cold killer. Mendoza is a super sweet and nice guy who seems like he wouldn’t hurt a fly. But both guys are going to make sure they outwork everyone. That’s their bravado. So far, it appears to be working for Mendoza.
